traditional, luxurious kitchen with bespoke drinks cabinet

Elms Barn Project

Carl and Liz approached us to help them update a very dated kitchen in their stunning barn conversion overlooking the beautiful Stour Valley in Suffolk. The house is anchored by its original oak beams, and Liz had long dreamed of creating a kitchen that would honor that heritage while bringing a fresh sense of elegance.

Our brief was to craft a traditional yet luxurious kitchen that would inspire Carl’s passion for cooking, centered around a breathtaking Bertazzoni range oven that Carl had always wanted. Liz had a clear design aesthetic, and we collaborated closely to realize her vision.

Our approach

We took the focus back to the original oak beams, letting them define the space. The old kitchen’s heavy chimney breast was removed, and in its place, we installed a sleek, integrated canopy set higher to open up the room. Liz was keen to bring in intricate, marble-style quartz worktops, which we carried up the walls in a splashback, creating a continuous, elegant surface. The cabinetry was designed with refined detailing, offering both practical storage and timeless charm.

A TOUCH OF CLASS

We also created a bespoke drinks cabinet across the room, perfect for entertaining. The result is a traditional, elegant kitchen that still feels open and connected to the beams and views. Carl now has a dream kitchen to inspire his culinary creativity, and Liz has the elegant, timeless space she envisioned—both wrapped in the warmth of the oak beams and quartz.
